Over 8 million Chinese tourists travelled abroad, with group tours to South Korea resumed in August
From the beginning of 2023, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China has twice released the list of countries for group tourist reception and "air ticket + hotel" business, continuously optimizing the policies for outbound tourism. In the top half of the year, the passenger volume of international routes recovered to 23% of that in 2019.
2023年初起，中国文化和旅游部先后两次发布出境团队游和“机票+酒店”业务国家名单，出境游政策不断优化。上半年国际航线旅客运输量恢复至2019年的23%。
Up to 8.12 million Chinese tourists travelled abroad in the first half of 2023. During the first six months, most Chinese tourists visited East and Southeast Asia that feature convenient transportation and visa application, and rich tourism resources. Countries such as Thailand (16.24%), Japan (12.05%), Singapore (8.69%), South Korea (7.60%), Myanmar (4.99%), and the United States (4.91%) are the most popular.
2023年上半年的出国游客数达812万人次。2023年上半年期间，访问交通和签证便捷、旅游资源丰富的东亚、东南亚地区的中国游客最多。泰国（16.24%）、日本（12.05%）、新加坡（8.69%）、韩国（7.60%）、缅甸（4.99%）、美国（4.91%）等国家最受欢迎。
On August 10, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China issued a notice to resume the overseas group travel and "air ticket + hotel" business for Chinese citizens to relevant countries and regions (the third batch) from that day on. The third batch of destinations for outbound group tours covers 78 countries, including Turkey, Japan, South Korea, India, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia. Thus, Chinese tourists can go on group tours to 138 countries and regions.
8月10日，中国文旅部发布通知，即日起恢复全国旅行社及在线旅游企业经营中国公民赴有关国家和地区（第三批）出境团队旅游和“机票+酒店”业务。第三批出境团队游目的地国家共78个，其中包括土耳其、日本、韩国、印度、德国、英国、美国、澳大利亚、以色列、捷克、奥地利、墨西哥等热门旅游目的地国家。由此，中国游客可以前往138个国家及地区团体旅游。
This is the first time in 3 years and 7 months since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic that China has allowed group tours to South Korea, and the first time in 6 years since the THAAD conflict in 2017 that Chinese people can visit South Korea normally.
这是自新冠疫情以后时隔3年零7个月中国重新允许赴韩团队游，也是自2017年发生萨德矛盾后时隔6年中国民众可以正常前往韩国。
Before the COVID-19, the number of Chinese tourists visiting South Korea was 6.02 million in 2019. However, with the widespread spread of the novel coronavirus in early 2020, Chinese tourists dropped to 2.69 million. It was 170,000 in 2021 and 230,000 in 2022. In the first half of 2023, the number of Chinese tourists visiting South Korea was approximately 620,000. With the continuous optimization of the outbound travel policies, the number of Chinese tourists visiting South Korea is expected to return to about 2 million in 2023.
疫情前的2019年访韩中国游客为602万人次。但是随着2020年初新冠疫情的广泛传播，中国游客减少到269万人次。2021年为17万人次、2022年为23万人次。2023年上半年，访韩的中国游客数约62万人次。随着出境游政策的不断优化，预计2023年访韩的中国游客数将恢复至200万人次左右。
